The Standard NATP Testing Components

Body Composition:

Consisting of height, weight and percent body fat.

Upper Body Power:

Upper Body PowerUpper body power is tested using the seated shot test.  This test is evaluated with the athlete seated on a gym floor to isolate the upper body.   The indoor shot is pushed from the mid chest area using both arms.  The athlete receives a score for the best of two efforts.

Agility:

AgilityAgility is the ability to change direction quickly without loss of speed or control.  Agility is tested using the Pro Agility Run.  This run is completed by initially straddling a middle line, running 15 ft. to the right, touching a line with your right hand, running 30 ft. to the left and touching a line with your left hand and finishing 15 ft. to the right.  This test is electronically timed to 1/100th of a second.

Lower Body Power:

Lower Body PowerThis test uses the stationary vertical jump.  It is done using the Vertec™ with no gather step. This isolates the lower body and tests sheer vertical explosiveness.

Acceleration/Speed:

AccelerationAcceleration and speed is tested with an electronically timed ten yard dash.  acceleration is a major component in athletic ability.  It is tested using an electronic timing system.  This system insures objectivity by eliminating any human error and records times to 1/100th of a second.

Additional Testing Components:

Most sports medicine affilites add additional tests such as the 40 yard dash, flexibility evaluations and others.
