The
Standard NATP Testing Components
Body Composition:
Consisting of height, weight and percent body fat.
Upper Body Power:
Upper
body power is tested using the seated shot test. This test is evaluated with the
athlete seated on a gym floor to isolate the upper body. The indoor shot is pushed
from the mid chest area using both arms. The athlete receives a score for the best
of two efforts.
Agility:
Agility
is the ability to change direction quickly without loss of speed or control. Agility
is tested using the Pro Agility Run. This run is completed by initially straddling a
middle line, running 15 ft. to the right, touching a line with your right hand, running 30
ft. to the left and touching a line with your left hand and finishing 15 ft. to the
right. This test is electronically timed to 1/100th of a second.
Lower Body Power:
This
test uses the stationary vertical jump. It is done using the Vertec with no
gather step. This isolates the lower body and tests sheer vertical explosiveness.
Acceleration/Speed:
Acceleration
and speed is tested with an electronically timed ten yard dash. acceleration is a
major component in athletic ability. It is tested using an electronic timing
system. This system insures objectivity by eliminating any human error and records
times to 1/100th of a second.
Additional Testing Components:
Most sports medicine affilites add additional tests such as the 40
yard dash, flexibility evaluations and others. |
